The US national team player is looking forward to the match with Poland! "When you put us next to each other..."

Grzegorz Wojnarowski: Congratulations on your victory, this match was a great spectacle, both on the pitch and in the stands. For you, it ended with a valuable win against the home team. Please tell me how you worked your way to victory.
Dana Rettke: I think we did a very good job at the beginning, playing very fast in attack and that brought us success. I liked how we reacted in difficult situations. When we were losing or when Serbia was on a good run, we stayed calm.
In the third and fourth sets we could have won a few rallies where we lost points, but I am delighted with how we responded in the tie-break, how we recovered in it. We finished the match victorious and it was a win that really built up our team. I was very proud of how we fought and that in the end we won.
There are many new, talented volleyball players in your team. How important is it for them to gain experience in competitions such as the Nations League?
I think that playing matches at the highest international level is something incredibly valuable for our young players, for our entire national team. We have many players in the team who are either still in college or have just finished college. Their participation in such matches will work wonders in the context of building a strong team for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. I think our young players rose to the challenge. They did a great job and were able to find a way to win. They are not afraid of anything and will continue to improve. I am very, very proud of how our team performed today.
You will play your next match against the Polish national team. What can you say about the Polish team, which you have faced many times in the past?
We know the Polish team very well. It's an extremely strong team, playing in a similar line-up for a long time. Without a doubt, the match against them will be a challenge for us. We respect the Polish team a lot, we have a lot of respect for what they show on the pitch, but we will focus on our side of the net. Poland is a really high team, I have a friend in this team in the person of Magdalena Stysiak and it's always a pleasure to face her. I'm looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead of us and I think it will be a great match. Probably similar to the one we played against Serbia, so with twists and turns. I'm excited about it.
Please tell us more about your relationship with Magdalena Stysiak. You played in the same club in Italy for two years, and now you will play together in Turkey.
Yes, we played together in Milan and from next season we will be teammates again - in Eczacibasi. I love the energy that Magda brings to the team. She is cheerful, brave, she lights up the pitch with her perseverance. She will do everything to win. We get along well and have a lot of fun together off the pitch. I am really grateful for our friendship. It is fun to play with and against Magda, so I am happy to see her on the other side of the net on Thursday.
Let's hope you both enjoy playing in this event.
It will definitely be like that. When you put us next to each other, we will always have fun. That much is certain.
